4th of July!

The 4th started out rainy and cool. Henry always had his life jacket on while on the dock. His first time on the dock, he tried to sit on the edge of the dock, swing his feet over and drop in, no joke. After a few attempts, he finally figured out that was not a choice. Henry spent many hours outside catching bubbles from the bubble machine we brought up with us.

In the evening, Ashly, Aaron, Henry and I headed to ride the queen on Okoboji while Henry spent time with the rest of the family for the evening. He was having a great time with Grandpa on the floats in the yard.

The Queen is a boat that tours West Okoboji lake and has commentary about the history of the lake while making a trip around it's shores 4x a day. It is pricier to ride the Queen but worth at least once. Ashly had always wanted to ride the Queen and when Aaron said he would go, she was elated.As we were on the Queen the weather cleared up to crystal blue skies with the sun shining, a perfect setting for the upcoming fireworks display.

After a tour of the lake, we ended up at the Emporium's Garden's bar and restaurant. We had burgers and waited for the fire works to begin. As the sun went down, more and more boats appeared on the water. It was very cool to see all the boat lights and the fireworks up close. I can say it was probably the best show I have seen up there.
We headed back to the lake to have drinks with the family. As we were getting settled on the deck, Aaron took Ashly down on the dock. Two years ago, Aaron took Ashly down on the dock and told her he loved here. That same place he asked her to marry her. We are so excited for the both of them. It's never been a matter of "if" but only a matter of "when" for the two of them.

Aaron picked out a beautiful ring for his future bride and it's quite obvious she loves it!

It was the perfect ending to the 4th festivities.
