Christmas with the Grinde Clan

Christmas eve we celebrated the holidays with the Grinde family - Ryan's Mother's family. The plan was to spend the day/evening with the family and then drive 2 hours to WDM to celebrate the holiday's with my family. The morning weather didn't look too promising with a few inches of snow coming down but the afternoon weather shaped up and the roads were just perfect for the drive home. Henry loves bows and the holidays proved to be a lot of fun for the kid. He would pick bows off all presents presented and helped others with their bows too. He is such a thoughtful person. :)

At Christmas, Ian let Henry help him play the piano. Henry was very into pounding the keys and got his own baby piano with four whole keys on it! Very fun.

Dinner was good but rather hectic. The oven caught on fire because Ryan's uncle made bacon wrapped scallops on a cookie sheet. You can guess, the grease ran over the sides and started a grease fire causing the whole house to smoke up. We had to open all doors to the outside where is was a cool zero degrees - I was thrilled as you can imagine. In the end, the house did not burn down and everybody had a good meal and nice gifts were exchanged.
After visiting we were off to Des Moines. The ride was rather uneventful until we got to Tiffin where two semi-trailers were blocking both lanes of traffic traveling in the opposite direction. That was around 9:30pm. I hope all the vehicles that were stopped made it home to their families in time for Christmas morning.
