As promised, flood photos

I have some flood pictures. Better late than never. This is city hall. It is an island normally and there is a bridge that is directly in front and in back of it but you cannot see it because the water is so high.

This is the symbol of Cedar Rapids. It is called the "City of 5 seasons" however if you have ever visited our fine city, you know it is the "City of 5 smells". There are at least 5 large manufacturing facilities in town that each put our their own individual smell and on the right day it smells like Cinnamon toast crunch or dog food...yeah, too bad dog food generally wins out the majority of the time.

Anyway, the waters have receded and down town looks like a bomb went off. Those who had homes and property effected where given placards that let them know if they can go into their homes or not. Those with red and purple placards cannot enter their homes and their homes will be torn down. Some of those people are not even allowed to rescue any personal belongings on upper levels of their home. It's really sad but each time I have to drive down town, it looks like progress is being made. It may be slow but it makes me hopeful that the city will be better than before when it is rebuilt.
